LOOK is an online publishing project between the Multimedia Cultural Centre Split (MKC) and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Split (FFST).

It aims to publish both shorter and standard longform e-books, of between 20,000 and 100,000 words.

The online distribution of the books allows for “urgent publishing,” which not only relates to the speed in which a text is published but also the relevancy of the work. All LOOK publications will respond to current issues in the arts and humanities, which can range from political events to aesthetic concerns.

The name LOOK is taken from a poem of the same title by Solmaz Sharif. The poem asks for enough time for a military drone pilot to LOOK and see who it is in their sights, and hopefully make the choice not to shoot. In a similar way, this publishing venture aims for texts to give readers enough time to LOOK at current issues and hopefully see things in a new light.
