Naoko Tozawa
Kinetic Art
DANCE PERFORMANCE / THE ROOM/S
JP/FR (20’)
The energy of Japan and the European dance scene converge in Kinetic Art, the project of Japanese dancer and choreographer Naoko Tozawa. This “art in motion” combines contortion and the vocabulary of breakdance — a style usually associated with strength and agility — yet Naoko transforms it into something intimate, fluid, and imbued with silence. The body becomes a field of conflict and harmony, where sharp cuts of movement blend with soft gestures. Through this performance, she explores the boundary between the physical and the inner world, questioning identity, appearance, transience, and the values of creation.
Naoko Tozawa, born in Akita (Japan), has lived in Annecy (France) since 2017. A dancer and choreographer with a background in rhythmic gymnastics, breakdance, contemporary dance, and circus. She has been a member of the Kinetic Art collective since 2011, and is the winner of We B Girlz, a prestigious world championship in breakdance for women, and Juste Debout Expérimental. She has collaborated with Damien Jalet and Kohei Nawa (VESSEL) and has performed from Tokyo to Paris. She leads the Aerstix company, exploring dance that unites the physical, the spiritual, and the emotional.
